Haiti…Where is God?

With horror and sadness I’m sure all of us have seen the devastating effects of the earthquake, the loss of life, the poverty.  Many ask where God is in all this misery.  As I watch the news I ask myself the same question. Still, as a person of faith I remember that God does not cause or will such evil; if he did, he would not be God…for God is love.  Earthquakes happen because, in the order of nature, various plates of our Earth’s crust shift.  Where is God?  He is in Haiti, weeping for love of his beloved children who are suffering.  In such moments, WE need to be the providence of God, bringing not only physical aid, but hope and compassion.

If you wish to help, here’s a link to Catholic Relief Services. They have been providing assistance to the Haitian people for some time now, and are an efficient, reliable source of aid.
